How am I protected?

The New Homes Quality Code protects buyers of new build homes.

We provide enhanced protection to buyers of new homes in the form of a code of practice which introduces a broad range of additional requirements for developers, to ensure that every aspect of a new home purchase is covered, from when a customer initially walks into a sales office, through to two years after the occupation of the home.

Code of Practice

Am I covered?

If you reserve a new home from a Registered Developer, after their date of registration, then you are protected by these arrangements and your developer has committed to comply with the New Homes Quality Code.

Many developers are in the process of signing up to these arrangements. You can check the Register of Developers here to see if your developer is registered.

The Code

Registered developers commit to following the code and the New Homes Ombudsman, including accepting its decisions in all customer matters. If a developer fails to meet these standards or does not act on the Ombudsman’s decisions, the NHQB Discipline & Sanctions Committee will investigate.

The committee assesses whether a breach has occurred and decides on any corrective actions or disciplinary measures needed to uphold the code and maintain trust.
